Sanctuary of Our Lady of Peninha
Located the middle of Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, Peninha is the most western of the peaks on the Monte da Lua.
A new place in Sintra
In Powerful Places in Sintra we briefly discuss the Biester Palace and Park, but the book was completed before the site opened.
“Biester Palace and Park, a 19th–century Romantic-style palace and botanical gardens. Soon to be open to the public.” (p. 218)
Now the Palace is open and we have spent a day visiting the site, which is beautiful and well worth your time. Since Biester is not generally known, there were relatively few tourists on the grounds, and we almost had the palace to ourselves when we visited.
Located the middle of Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, Peninha is the most western of the peaks on the Monte da Lua.
